 | Graffiti which has blighted three areas in Kettering will be removed tomorrow (Tuesday) thanks to a clean-up initiative organised in partnership with local police, residents and the borough council.
The Police Safety Community Team (SCT) for the Kettering North and Central areas have been working with residents concerned about the appearance of the William Knibb (formerly called St Andrews), Northfield (formerly St Marys) and All Saints wards. Two previous clean-ups in the St Andrews area last year significantly reduced repeat daubings.
Tuesday’s tidy-up is part of the ongoing Operation Kleen Sweep, organised in conjunction with the council. It will be carried out by Mark Oakenfull, director of Top Mark Cleaning Ltd of Northampton who will visit 11 sites to paint chemicals over the graffiti before pressure hosing them off.
Sergeant Pauline Sturman, head of the SCT in the affected areas, said: "It is important that graffiti is removed as soon as possible so that it doesn’t attract other types of criminality in the area. |
